Anies Launches English Course for Teachers and ASN

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan launched English course for teacher and state civil apparatus (ASN) serving under Jakarta Provincial Government. 

We help them (ASN) to get aspiration and innovation in improving public services and expand international cooperation networks

It was carried out through English for Indonesia program initiated by British Council Indonesia, which witnessed by British Ambassador to Indonesia, Moazzam Malik, British Council Indonesia Director, Paul Smith, and Jakarta Education Agency Head, Ratiyono.

"Jakarta is the capital city and has become one of the world's major cities. Hence, Indonesian people, especially Jakartans need to master the international language," stated Anies, Thursday (4/25).

According to him, it would facilitate communication with the international community, either to convey matters relating to Jakarta or to absorb information.

"Thank you to the British Council Indonesia who has worked in Jakarta for more than 71 years. They have English learning material that has been tested in various places," he explained.

British Ambassador to Indonesia, Moazzam Malik expressed that English is very important which is used in international circles.

"We'll keep strengthening cooperation with Jakarta Provincial Government through a human resource capacity building program which focuses on developing English skills," he told. 

British Council Indonesia Director, Paul Smith asserted that its cooperation was a continuation of the commitment to improve teachers' English capacity through Training of Trainers program in a bid to create a breakthrough in teaching.

"We help them (ASN) to get aspiration and innovation in improving public services and expand international cooperation networks," he stated.
